Accused in murder case gets justice after 19 years
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court on Thursday acquitted Mazhar Hussain of murder charges after 19 years of his imprisonment.
The charges of murder could not be proved and the court ordered to release him.
Justice Asif Saeed Khosa remarked, “We used to listen in movies that Justice! Return me my 12 years. Who is responsible for wasting 19 years of Mazhar?”
He further said that the justice system could not work without truth. Those who gave false testimonies should be inquired while the judges should pass orders in view of facts.
Mazhar was accused of murdering a person identified as Ismail in 1997. He was arrested and a case was proceeded against him. The trail court had awarded him death sentence and the High Court also maintained the sentence.
When Mazhar appealed in Supreme Court, no evidence could be provided against him and hence he was acquitted.
