ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday suspended the Electoral Reforms Act 2017 over the amendment to the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat clause.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the IHC resumed the hearing of the case.

During the proceedings, Deputy Attorney General told the court that the government was going to hold general elections with the electoral reforms.

He prayed to the court not to cancel the Electoral Reforms Act 2017 without listening to the arguments of the federal government.

The Deputy AG said that suspension of the Act would create disorder in the country.

The court ordered the federal government to submit the report prepared by the three-member committee headed by Senator Raja Zafarul Haq about the changes made in the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat clause.
