COAS General Raheel Sharif calls on South African Army Chief VR Masondo
RAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif arrived in South Africa on a three-day official visit on Monday, said a spokesman for the ISPR.
Earlier during the day, the COAS visited South African Army Headquarters where he was presented a 21-gun salute.
He was also presented the guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent of the South African Army.
General Raheel Sharif also called on Lieutenant General VR Masondo, Chief of South African Army, at the Army HQs.
During the meeting, both military leaders discussed matters of mutual interest and bilateral defence ties.
The South African Army chief lauded the professional prowess and sacrifices of the Pakistan Army in successfully fighting against terrorism.
He showed keenness in bolstering mutually beneficial defence ties between both the friendly countries.
COAS General Raheel Sharif was also given a detailed briefing on operational and training matters of the South African Army.
