Large quantity of banned items recovered from Central Jail Karachi
KARACHI (92 News) – The law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) have on Monday found large quantities of contraband including mobile phones, air coolers, knife-cutters, freezers, stoves, DVD players and LED TVs from Karachi’s central jail during a search operation.
As per details, police, Sindh Rangers and Frontier Corps carried out a joint search operation in Karachi Central Jail after two terrorists managed to escape from the prison.
The operation was conducted in the background of escape of prisoners from the jail belonging to banned outfits, Lyari Gang war and other criminals involved in heinous crimes.
Large quantities of TVs, LCDs, tape recorders, air coolers and dispensers were recovered from the barracks.
Earlier, two “high-profile militants” of the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LJ) had escaped from Karachi’s central prison.
The prison was claimed to be safeguarded heavily after multiple operations to foil escape attempts, including the October 2014 operation by the Rangers, during which they found a 45-metre-long tunnel being built just a few meters from the facility to allow some 100 militants to escape.
The actual circumstances of the escape have still been unclear as the police officials said they were informed about the incident after “considerable delay”.
