Journalists protest fake cases against 92 News Anchor Qaisar Khan, other coleagues

LAHORE (92 News) – The Punjab Union of Journalists (PUJ) staged a demonstration outside the Punjab Assembly in protest against the cases registered against 92 News Anchor Qaisar Khan and other journalists.

The protesters entered the Punjab Assembly premises after breaking the barricades. They also staged a sit-in and chanted slogans in favor of their demands, independence of journalism and against the police.

Speaking on the occasion, PUJ president Shahazad Hussain Butt said that Okara DPO Rana Faisal was patronizing a rogue SHO.

He said that they had sent the names of a five-member committee through Rana Arshad who went away without any response.

Shahazad Butt said that they would get justice at every cost.

DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf held talks with the journalist.

Meanwhile, Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Iqbal Khan has formed a committee comprising of provincial ministers Sher Ali Khan and Dr Waseem Akhtar.

On the other hand, journalists staged a walkout from the Punjab Assembly.

The protesters, including Press Gallery president Qamar Bhatti, general secretary Ali Akbar, LPC former president Arshad Ansari and Amir Raza, chanted slogans against the police for registering fake cases against journalists.

They demanded immediate sacking of Okara DPO Rana Faisal.
