SC unanimously disqualified former PM, remarks Justice Asif Saeed Khosa
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – A five member Bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa has on Wednesday observed that the verdict given by all five judges unanimously disqualified the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
The apex court on Wednesday began hearing appeal of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif against his disqualification.
During the proceedings, Khawaja Haris, the counsel of former prime minister while presenting his arguments said that five judges had announced judgment on July 28 regarding Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification but the two judges had already given their verdict on April 20, adding that the two judges had no reason to be part of the bench after April 20 verdict.
Justice Ijazul Hassan asked Khawaja Haris why didn’t they challenged the April 20 judgment of two judges to which he said that the decision of two judges had no legal status and the decision of majority judges was accepted.
Khawaja Haris said the disqualification was done “on a flimsy ground” of not showing his unclaimed salary from a Dubai-based company FZE Capital owned by his son. But the court observed that Sharif was the chairman of the Board of Directors of the company.
The counsel of former PM said that he never draw salary as the Board of Director of the FZE company.
The court later adjourned the hearing until tomorrow.
