Seasonal influenza claims five lives in DG Khan, Bahawalpur
MULTAN (92 News) – At least five people in Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan died after contracting seasonal influenza on Monday as the virus spread to Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan.
Several people have been diagnosed with the disease, which has claimed 16 lives in December in Multan.
According to the Health Department spokesperson, around 104 people were taken to Multan’s Nishter hospital in December, while at least 47 patients were diagnosed with symptoms that include influenza, cough, joint pain, running nose, vomiting, and fever.
Seasonal influenza can spread through contact with the bacteria discharged by an infected person’s coughing and sneezing. Pregnant women, senior citizens, and children are susceptible to the disease.
