SC conditionally allows military courts to announce reserved verdicts

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Supreme Court on Thursday conditionally allowed the military courts to announce the reserved verdicts of the accused involved in the May 9 incidents.

Hearing the intra-court appeals against the verdicts of the military courts, the court ruled that the verdicts of only cases in which the nominated people could be released before Eidul Fitr should be announced.

It also ruled that the accused awarded one-year sentence will be given concession.

Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar ordered the military courts to try to release the acquitted people 3-4 days before the Eid.

The court sought the details of the accused awarded sentence less than three years. Faisal Siddiqui, counsel for the accused, expressed the fear the released accused could again be arrested under 3MPO.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing till the last week of April.
