10 nabbed, hundreds of kg substandard meat seized in crackdown
LAHORE/GUJRANWALA (92 News) – At least 10 people were arrested and hundreds of kilogrammes of substandard and dead animals meat was recovered in different incidents.
In Lahore, the Live Stock department officials and TMO Nishter Town Ali Abbas conducted joint search operation in Green Town Liaqatabad and Kahna and recovered more than 280kg of substandard meat, while seven people were apprehended.
The accused attacked the Live Stock team in a bid rescue their companions.
The attackers said that they were illegally arrested and that have the receipts of the slaughter house.
Live Stocks official Muhammad Kashif said that the stamps on meat and slaughter house receipts were illegal.
On the other hand, the live stock officials carried out operations in different areas of Gujranwala and recovered 400kg substandard meat.
The raiding team also nabbed three people for their involvement in selling substandard meat.
Police have registered cases against the butchers.
