45 die, hundreds injured due to rain, storm in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; PM for expediting relief work
PESHAWAR (92 News) – As many as 45 people were killed while over hundreds injured due to rain and heavy storm across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to details, 29 people were killed and 170 injured in Peshawar alone.
Eight people were killed and 16 wounded in Charsadda, while seven people were killed in Nowshwera.
The injured have been shifted to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar and district headquarters hospitals of Charsadda and Nowshera.
In Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshera, the roofs of several houses collapsed due to the storm.
The Army teams are continuing the rescue operation in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is in London, phoned the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) chairman and directed him to expedite rescue activities in the affected areas.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak directed management of the hospitals to provide proper healthcare to all the injured people.
PTI chief Imran Khan has demanded a report from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister.
President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan and leaders of different political parties have expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives.
Pakhtunkhhwa government has announced compensation of Rs 500,000 for the family of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for each injured person.
