KARACHI (92 News) – 92 news traced the reason behind the suspension of Umer Akmal as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Anti-Corruption unit interrogated the Quetta Gladiators batsman on previous night.

According to the sources, a suspicious person has also been questioned by the PCB Anti-Corruption unit and collected important evidence during the interrogation from the dubious person.

The sources also said that after interrogation from the suspected person, Umer Akmal was suspended. On the basis of the evidence, Umer Akmal was immediately suspended.

It was also reported that the Investigations are underway with Umer Akmal.

Earlier today, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) suspended Umar Akmal with immediate effect under Article 4.7.1* of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code, which means he cannot take part in any cricket-related activity pending the investigation being carried out by PCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit.

As this is an ongoing investigation, the PCB will not make any further comments.

Meanwhile, Quetta Gladiators are allowed to apply for Umar Akmal’s replacement in the HBL Pakistan Super League 2020. The defending champions will take on two-time former winners Islamabad United in the opening match, which will commence later today at 9pm (PST).
