125km of Karakoram Highway destroyed by rains restored: ISPR

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Due to heavy rains, KKH and Gilgit-Skardu roads are blocked due to 175 slides at various places since April 3. Overall, 600 Army troops and 96 engineering plants pieces are employed for restoration of infrastructure. At KKH 108 slides have been cleared and 473km stretch of road has been restored. While at Gilgit-Skardu road 22 slides have been cleared and 125km of road restored. Army troops also provided relief items at Chilas, Barseen and Patan through helicopters. Relief items included tents, ration packs, medicines and blankets. Thirty-three tons of wheat was also dispatched to Giligt from Rawalpindi on Friday.
