13 more educational institutions closed over SOPs violations

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – As many as 13 more educational institutions have been closed in 24 hours over violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) designated to curb coronavirus spread. According to the reports, ten educational institutes have been closed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) while three were shut in Sindh. Earlier a day, 22 educational institutions have been closed across the country for violating standard SOPs . According to a statement issued by the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) on Thursday, 16 educational institutions have been closed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, one in the federal capital and five in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. “During the last 48 hours, 22 educational institutions across Pakistan have been closed due to non-compliance of health SOPs/protocols and disease prevalence,” read the statement. In Karachi’s Korangi, two private schools have also been sealed for commencing classes of primary sections. The concerned authorities said that an action will also be taken against the principals of teh respective institutes. On the other hand, Pakistan has reported nine deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 304,386. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 6,408 on Friday. According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 752 new cases of the novel coronavirus were detected across the country over the last 24 hours. A total of 33,865 samples were tested during the previous 24 hours, out of which 752 turned out to be positive. Thus far, 291,683 people have recuperated from the infection as the number of active cases stands at 6,295. 514 more Covid-19 patients recovered from the disease during the past 24 hours. Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Till now 133,125 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 98,142 in Punjab, 37,242 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 13,991 in Balochistan, 16,033 in Islamabad, 3,381 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 2,472 in Azad Kashmir.
