ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General Bashir Memon on Thursday informed the Supreme Court (SC) that 152 government officials had concealed their dual nationality. A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar was conducting hearing of the suo motu case on dual nationalities of government officials. During the proceedings, a committee formed by the top court submitted a report. The FIA DG told that court that there were more than 600,000 officials of grade 17 and above in the country, however, the data of only 1,82,000 officials was received while data of others was still being received. Memon told the court that the data 36,000 officials was yet to be uploaded, adding that around 655 officials have voluntarily accepted their dual nationality. While giving his remarks, the CJP asked to give names of those officials who have not provided their data, adding that the court will summon the head of their departments and will see what they would reply. The court had then ordered the FIA chief to furnish more details of the officials and summoned a report in two weeks.
