18 lawmakers still fighting against COVID-19, Fawad opposes direct NA session

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Opposing the direct session of the National Assembly, Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has said that the coronavirus started infecting the country’s lawmakers shortly after the in-person sessions of the parliament. The federal minister said that currently, 18 lawmakers are still fighting against the virus, urging people to exercise caution to remain safe from the disease. “Within a week, the coronavirus claimed lives of four parliament members including a provincial minister,” he added. Fawad Chaudhry said that instead of calling a direct session or summoning one at hotels, virtual sessions should be held of the parliament. Earlier today, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and former provincial minister Mian Jamshed-ud-Din Kakakhel died due to coronavirus in Islamabad on Wednesday. He was on ventilator in Kalsoom Hospital Islamabad. He was sixty-five. Jamshed-ud-Din was elected as MPA from Nowshera on ticket of PTI in 2018 general elections.
