MARDAN (92 News) – The Sheikh Maltoon police have registered a case against 20 people, including university employees, for lynching a student on the suspicion of blasphemy at Abdul Wali Khan University on Friday.

Moreover, the police have arrested eight accused after indentifying them through videos.

On the complaint of SHO Muhammad Saleem Khan, the case has been registered under sections 148, 149, 427, 109, 297 of the PPC.

The Mardan DPO said that eight accused had been identified through videos, while three teams had been formed to arrest other accused.

On the other hand, funeral for the lynched student Mashaal Khan was held in his ancestral town Swabi.

KPK Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak said that they had not found any proof against the slain youth so far. “A judicial inquiry will be held into the matter,” he maintained.

Mashaal’s father said that his son was fond of knowledge.

Meanwhile, footage of Mashaal’s interview has been made public.
