2020 will be year of progress for Pakistan: PM

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan said on Thursday said that 2020 will be the year of progress for Pakistan. He said while addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of Jalalpur Canal at Pind Dadan Khan. He said now the county has come out of the difficult phase due to effective measures taken by the government to stabilize economy in 2010.
2020 will open up era of job opportunities
He said the next year will open up an era of development, progress, prosperity, and job opportunities. He said now trade deficit is reducing, foreign remittances and investments are increasing. The premier said he has special connection with the area from Jhelum to Mianwali and is very well aware of people's problems. He congratulated the people of Jhelum, Khushab, and Pind Dadan Khan for having the Jalalpur Canal. He said the project will irrigate about 1,72,000 acres of land and provide drinking water to the people of this area. He said this project should have been started some 120 years before, which unfortunately, could not materialize. He admitted that the current year had proven difficult for the poor. “The next year will be one of progress for Pakistan,” he said. “It will be a year when jobs will be given to people.” The prime minister credited his government's policies, saying that exports and remittances were both on the rise. “In 2019, we stabilised our economy. God willing, 2020 will be the year when prosperity will come to Pakistan,” PM Khan said.
PM urges people to stand by him to defeat corrupt mafia
PM Khan lashed out at political opponents for wasting Pakistan's resources when they were in government. He said that not everyone could bring about reform because the corrupt mafia stands in your way. Imran Khan has said no country can make progress without elimination of corruption. He said corrupt elements steal public money meant for the welfare of the common people. He urged the people to stand by him to defeat corrupt mafia in the country.
Pakistan Army ready for India in case of attack on AJK
The prime minister also said that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Bajwa had assured him that Pakistan Army was ready for India in case of an attack on Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK). Regarding grim human rights situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) and oppressive policies of the Narendra Modi-led Indian government against Muslims and other religious minorities, Imran Khan said has been warning the world that Modi can do anything to divert world attention from the IoK, where eight million people have been under siege for about five months. "I am telling you now, he will use this [protests in India] to do something in AJK," said the prime minister. “I informed Gen Bajwa about this and he told me that Pakistan Army is ready for India.” “I want you to listen to my prediction. The people of India will stand up against Modi. Not only Muslims but Hindus, Sikhs and Christians. They know that what he is about to do in India is the same what Hitler did 60-70 years ago against the Jews,” Iman Khan said.
