LAHORE (92 News) – The Punjab government has fixed the price of a 20kg bag of flour at Rs 860, increasing the price by Rs 55 in a month. The 20kg flour bag is being sold at Rs 1,030-1,100 in the open market. The increase in the flour price has multiplied the woes of the people battered by the price-hike. Citizens said that the government had deprived the poor of the cheapest food item. On the other hand, a report on the increase in the flour price was presented to Prime Minister Imran Khan. According to the report, the government is facing shortage of wheat due to the steps taken by it. The report revealed that per maund price of wheat has crossed Rs 2,000 due to smuggling. Taking notice of the flour crisis, Prime Minister Imran Khan ordered the Federal Minister for Food Security Syed Fakhar Imam to prepare a plan for 5-10 years.
