22 educational institutes shut down in 48 hours over SOPs violation

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - As many as 22 educational institutions have been closed across the country in last 48 hours for violating standard operating procedures (SOPs) designated for the prevention of coronavirus spread. According to a statement issued by the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) on Thursday, 16 educational institutions have been closed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, one in the federal capital and five in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. “During the last 48 hours, 22 educational institutions across Pakistan have been closed due to non-compliance of health SOPs/protocols and disease prevalence,” read the statement. In Karachi’s Korangi, two private schools have also been sealed for commencing classes of primary sections. The concerned authorities said that an action will also be taken against the principals of teh respective institutes. On the other hand, the coronavirus (COVID-19) claimed six more lives across the country during the last 24 hours, lifting the overall death toll to 6,399. According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 545 more people tested positive for the infection during this period, bringing the number of confirmed cases in the country to 303,634. The active cases of Coronavirus in the country are now 6,066. 291,169 patients stand recovered from the pandemic so far. In the last 24 hours, 31,808 samples were tested, out of which 545 turned out to be positive. Thus far, more than 3 million tests have been conducted across the country. 998 patients are still under treatment at 735 hospitals of the country out of which 102 are critical, who are on the ventilators.
