Neither gave NRO to Kulbhushan nor his sentence being reprieved: Farogh Naseem
July 24, 2020
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Federal Law Minister Farogh Naseem has said that neither an NRO is being given to Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav nor his sentence being reprieved. Addressing in National Assembly shortly after taking oath as the law minister for the third time since 2018, Farogh Nasim denied that the federal government had passed an ordinance to give Kulbhushan Jadav a reprieve from this death sentence. He maintained that the ordinance regarding appeal of Kulbhushan Jadhav was presented as per the verdict of International Court of Justice (ICJ). “We have to follow the verdict of ICJ. Pakistan will try to fulfill its international duties,” he added. “If the ordinance was not brought, India would have had the opportunity to go to the UN Security Council. Pakistan has played its role with responsibility,” the law minister mentioned. He further said there were some important dates regarding the case. The reaction came a day after a ruckus in NA session when law ministry tabled ordinance regarding appeal of Kulbhushan Jadhav under Article 89 of the Constitution. Yesterday, the federal government faced resistance before submitting the ordinance regarding appeal of Indian RAW spy Kulbhushan Jadhav to the International Court of Justice. A revised ordinance of Kulbhushan Jadhav has been presented in the today’s session of National Assembly (NA). The law ministry has tabled the ordinance under Article 89 of the Constitution after which a rumpus erupted due to protest of opposition parties. Addressing the House, Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the PTI govenrment is giving National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) to Indian spy despite his confession. “Giving NRO to Kulbhushan is part of this agenda. Our conscience does not satisfy,” Bilawal Bhutto said while pointed out the quorum and the opposition walked out of the lower house.
