3.5 earthquake jolts Peshawar, adjoining areas

PESHAWAR (92 News) – A 3.5-magnitude earthquake hit parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar and adjoining areas on Sunday. The quake’s epicenter was determined at South-Western Peshawar with a focal depth of 26 kilometer. Tremors were felt in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s district of Swat and its adjoining areas. The tumbler created panic in the people, but no loss of life or property has been reported so far. Pakistan is located in one of the most earthquake prone areas with high vulnerability to earthquakes. Geographically, the country lies in the collision zone of the India tectonic plate to the south and the Eurasian plate to the north.
