40 passengers killed, 71 injured as two trains collide in Dharaki

DHARAKI (92 News) – As many as 40 passengers were killed and 71 injured in a collision between two trains in Dharaki on Monday.

According to details, Sir Syed Express collided with a Millat Express which had been de-tracked.

The Ghotki deputy commissioner said that the Rescue operation is underway and the deceased and injured are being shifted to nearby hospitals.

Emergency has been declared in hospitals in Dharaki and Ghotki, while a makeshift hospital has been established in Raiti.A relief train has been dispatched from Rohari.

Sukkur DS Railway Tariq Latif said that Sir Syed Express collided with the de-tracked Millat Express. The Sindh Rangers spokesperson said that a team comprising of jawans was present at the site and busy in rescue activities.

According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), rescue activities are going on at the site.

After the accident, trains have been stopped at different stations. Green Line has been stopped at Sadiqabad, while Rahman Baba Express and Shah Hussain Express are present at Rahimyar Khan and Shah Hussain stations.
