32 killed, 50 injured as rain wreaks havoc across country

QUETTA/KARACHI (92 News) – As many as 32 people were killed in different rain-related incidents across the country during the last two days. In Lahore, the power supply was disrupted to several areas due to a windstorm. Incessant rain is continuing for the last five days in several districts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Sanjavi and Ziarat. In Bhaag, two children were killed and four people were injured. The rain and hailstorm damaged crops. In Qadirabad, the vehicle off Mir Sarfraz Bugti was washed away by flood. However, he was not in the vehicle. In North Waziristan, the Tochi River swelled due to incessant rain coupled with thunderstorm in the area. Embankments broke at several places. In Sindh, several feeders tripped in Tehsil Jati, while incessant rain continued to lash Sajawal, Jamshoro, Khyberpur, Dadu and Sehwan Sharif. According to the Met Office, a westerly wave is affecting southern and central parts of the country and likely to grip upper parts. Weather Forecast for Tuesday: Widespread dust-thunderstorm/rain accompanied by gusty winds is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, at scattered places in Balochistan, Punjab, Islamabad, Quetta, Zhob divisions, Kashmir, while at isolated places in Sukkur, Larkana divisions and Gilgit Baltistan. Hailstorm is also expected at isolated places during the period. Few moderate to isolated heavy falls are also expected in Kohat, Bannu and D.I.Khan divisions. Past 24 Hours Weather: Widespread dust-thunderstorm/rain accompanied by gusty winds occurred in Balochistan, at scattered places in Malakand, Kohat, Bannu, D.I.Khan, D.G.Khan, Sargodha, Multan, Bahawalpur, Jaccobabad, Sukkur divisions, while at isolated places in Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. Weather remained hot and dry elsewhere in the country.
