3rd phase of LB polls: Members elected on special seats sworn in

KARACHI (92 News) – The members elected on special seats were sworn in on Tuesday, paving the way for election of the MQM’s mayor. With the election of the special seats members, the MQM has gained 209 seats, out of total 309 seats of the Metropolitan Corporation. MQM leader Waseem Akhtar could become the mayor despite being in the jail. The nomination papers for the mayor elections will be submitted on August 5-6. The mayor will be elected on August 24. Overall 1,338 newly-elected members swore in across the province.
