43 victims of Safora tragedy laid to rest in Karachi; mourning day observed across country

KARACHI (92 News) – Forty-three people killed in the Safora tragedy were laid to rest in Sakhi Hassan Graveyard on Thursday. The bodies were brought to the graveyard amid tight security of Rangers and police. A large number of leaders of political parties were present in the meeting. Meanwhile, an injured woman died of her injuries, raising death toll to 46. On the other hand, the mourning day was observed across the country. Business activities remained suspended in several cities of Sindh. Lawyers also observed a complete strike. MQM’s Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that there is need to launch a vigorous and organized operation in Karachi. Opposition Leader in the Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hassan demanded the government and security agencies to immediately arrest the terrorists. PML-Q MPA Haleem Adil Sheikh said that the arrest of terrorists is a challenge for the government and security forces. “The Safora tragedy is a question mark over the performance of the Sindh government,” he said.
