LAHORE (92 News) – As many as 44,455 motorcyclists were fined for not wearing helmet during the four-day campaign launched by the traffic police on the orders of the Lahore High Court. Talking to 92 News, CTO Capt (retd) Liaquat Ali said that bikers not wearing helmets will be banned on Jail Road from October 1. He said that he had directed to heavily fine the cops not wearing the helmets. Meanwhile, Citizens have strongly protested against unavailability of helmet having price of Rs 500. They said that the district administration’s claim to provide helmets at low rates was just a drama. After thousands of citizens were fined Rs 1,000 each for not wearing helmet on the LHC orders, helmets disappeared from the market. The district administration managed a truckload of helmets at Rs 500 each, but it could not be made available. The district administration representative said that the helmets worth Rs 500 were sold immediately.
