THAR (92 News) – Forty-five peacocks died of Ranikhet disease due to negligence of the Sindh Wildlife and Poultry Vaccination Department in 18 days. Sources said that a majority of deaths occurred in Mithi, Chachro, Nangarparkar and Deplo. They added that peacock chicks were most affected by the disease. “A majority of deaths occurred due to excessive heat and food and water shortage. No timely action was taken on the complaint of locals,” he said. Teams of Hyderabad Wild Life Department, including deputy conservators, field officers and inspectors, are present in the affected areas on routine visits.
