NZEREKORE (Web Desk) Dozens of people were killed in clashes between spectators during a football match in the West African country of Guinea.
According to foreign media, a clash between spectators during a football match in Guinea's second largest city, Nzerekore, took place on Sunday.
According to the AFP news agency, a hospital doctor said that there were bodies as far as the eye could see in the hospital, while some bodies were also lying in the hall, and the morgue was also filled with dead bodies.
The doctor said that about 100 bodies were lying in the hospital and the morgue, while another doctor said that dozens of bodies had been brought to the hospital.
Later, a statement issued by the Guinean government said that 56 people had been confirmed dead as a result of the clash during the football match.
According to AFP, videos circulating on social media related to the clash could not be confirmed. However, in the videos that are viral on social media, bodies can be seen in and around the stadium.
According to local sources, the ardent protesters also set fire to a police station in Nzerekore.
An eyewitness told a foreign news agency that it all started when the referee made a controversial decision during the match.
After the referee's decision, spectators jumped onto the ground, and then a brawl broke out.
