6-years-old child killed during Karachi anti-encroachment drive

KARACHI (92 News) – A six-year-old boy killed on Thursday as the debris stone hit the boy during the ongoing anti-encroachment drive in Karachi’s Korangi No 6 area. As per details garnered, the debris after the grand operation of anti-encroachment in Karachi cannot pick up from the places. While 6 years old baby identified as Osama was collecting iron from the debris of demolished shops in Korangi No 6 when the stone was hit on his head as he succumbed into injuries. It is worth mentioning here that the debris of demolished buildings has been not picked up from the many places of Karachi during ongoing drive of anti-encroachment.  The operation against the illegal constructions, by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), started a week ago in the Korangi area. Following the directives of the Supreme Court, the anti-encroachment drive in the port city has been effectively going for months now, however, it has drawn mixed reactions from politicians and civil rights activists alike. On December 12, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has ordered to continue the anti-encroachment operation in the city. Hearing the case at Karachi Registry, he ordered that houses and markets constructed on the welfare projects should be given 45-day notice instead of 15 days. The Karachi Development Authorities (KDA) started anti-encroachment operation in Gharibabad on Tuesday to revive the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) on the orders of the Supreme Court.
