PTI’s Haleem Adil remanded into police custody for two days

KARACHI (92 News) – An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi has on Wednesday approved two-day physical remand of Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Haleem Adil Sheikh and others.

The police produced the PTI leader and four other men identified as Ghulam Mustafa, Abdul Hafeez, Mehmood and Ramazan, before court and requested it to hand their custody over to the police for questioning on a 15-day physical remand.

The court turned down the investigation officer’s 15-day remand plea and remanded the accused in police custody until Friday and directed him to present them before it on the next hearing.

Deputy Attorney-General Wahab Baloch appeared before the court as Haleem Adil Sheikh’s counsel and argued that the case is based on dishonesty. The court remarked that it has initially approved two-day remand, and will further analyze the situation after investigation.

Talking to the journalists, the PTI leader alleged PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah orchestrated a plan to get him killed yesterday. Slamming the PPP, he said he will expose both the PPP chairman and chief minister.

Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah has said that Haleem Adil behaved like goon and committed hooliganism during the by election. He also said that the action will be taken against him as per law.

Meanwhile, Khurrum Sher Zaman said that PPP has targeted PTI members. "Hopefully Haleem Adil will get justice from the courts," he added.

Earlier a day, another case containing anti-terrorism provisions has been filed against arrested Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly and PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh.

According to police, a case on the complaint of the Sindh government has been registered at Memon Goth PS under terrorism charges, aerial firing and creating a disturbance against Haleem Adil Sheikh. A total of four cases against Sheikh were all registered on February 16 under the government's supervision.

The police also said the PTI leader and four others were nominated and arrested for one case. The four other suspects have been nominated in three other cases of possession of illegal weapons, police said.

The PTI leader will be produced before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) today, said the police.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Haleem Adil Sheikh, was arrested by police for violating the orders of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) amid the voting process during PS-88 by-polls.
