PML-N’s Javed Latif booked for ‘conspiring’ against state

LAHORE (92 News) – Lahore police have registered a case against Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader MNA Mian Javed Latif for ‘conspiring’ against the state on Saturday.

According to the details, Mian Javed Latif has been booked under a treason case against state over his anti-state speech. The case has been registered at the Township Police Station Lahore over the complaint of a citizen named Jameel Saleem.

According to the first information report (FIR) Javed Latif deliberately defaming the state institutions and carried out hate speech.

The FIR states that Javed Latif hurled insults at the state institutions and the government and sowed the seeds of hatred between PPP and PML-N workers.

The FIR further said that the PML-N leader had spread fear and panic among the people with his statement, adding that the MNA had committed a criminal act by making a statement against the government and state institutions.

“On March 12 at 10pm, Latif came on private TV show and spoke against the state institutions and tried to harbour the crimes committed by PML-N leaders Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz,” the FIR read.

The politician has been charged under sections 120B [Punishment of criminal conspiracy], 153A [Promoting enmity between different groups], 505(1)B [Statements conducing to public mischief], and 506 [Punishment for criminal intimidation] of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Sections of the Preventions of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016 are included in the FIR as well.
