Thousands of devotees from all around the country have gathered in Sehwan Sharif to attend three-day Urs celebrations of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar which began today.

The celebrations will feature cattle show, agricultural and industrial exhibition, musical nights, conference of folks and a literature conference, besides other activities.

A tent city has been established to accommodate devotees. Several others have rented houses of local residents. Make-shift stalls selling flowers, food, clothes and jewelry have propped in the courtyard. Many are lit up for the occasion.

Law enforcement agencies claim to have made extraordinary arrangements to secure the event in light of the devastating suicide attack at the shrine in February this year.

Walkthrough gates and CCTV cameras have been installed for the safety of the devotees while heavy contingent of police would be deployed to maintain law and order situation during Urs celebrations.

Lal Shahbaz's annual Urs is held at Sehwan on the 18 of Shaaban – the eighth month of the Muslim lunar calendar. More than half a million pilgrims from all over Pakistan flock to the city.
