82nd death anniversary of Dr Allama Iqbal observed with reverence

LAHORE (92 News) – The 82nd death anniversary of national poet and philosopher Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal was observed with reverence on Tuesday. On 21st April, the death anniversary of Eastern poet is observed across Pakistan to acknowledge his services for getting a separate homeland for the Muslims of subcontinent. Each corner and things placed in Lahore’s Javed Manzil reminds the great thinker Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Allama Iqbal through his revolutionary thinking had given the Muslims of the sub-continent the concept of a separate homeland where they can live in accordance with their religion and customs. Various literary, educational, political, social and cultural organizations will arrange special programs to pay homage to the national poet and highlight different aspects of his life and teachings. Allama Iqbal conceived the idea of Pakistan and is, therefore, regarded as one of the founding fathers of the country. His best literary work includes Asrar-e-Khudi, Payam- i-Mashriq, Bang-i-Dara, Bal-i-Jibril, Zarb-i-Kalim and Armughan-e-Hijaz. The day is dawned with special prayers for solidarity and prosperity of the country and the Muslims. The nation will pay special tribute for his vision of a separate homeland for Muslims of the sub-continent. He was born on November 9, 1877 in Sialkot, Dr Iqbal was a great representative of the subcontinent and one of the main exponents of the Pakistan Movement. Called the Sufi poet of the modern age he was a man of great ideas – dynamic, romantic, provocative and profound. Allama Iqbal was both a great poet, serious thinker and philosopher, who infused a revolutionary spirit in the Muslim youth of the subcontinent at the time through his poetry. Allama Iqbal’s poetry has been translated in Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, English including several other languages. Iqbal is admired as a prominent poet by Indians, Pakistanis, Iranians and other international scholars of literature. Though Iqbal is best known as an eminent poet, he is also a highly acclaimed Muslim philosophical thinker of modern times. His first poetry book, The Secrets of the Self, appeared in the Persian language in 1915, and other books of poetry include The Secrets of Selflessness, Message from the East and Persian Psalms. The poet-philosopher died on April 21, 1938.
