89 prisoners test positive for coronavirus in Punjab’s four jails

LAHORE (92 News) – As many as 89 prisoners have tested positive for coronavirus in four jails of the province. According to data obtained by 92 News on Tuesday, tests were conducted on 527 prisoners in Camp Jail. Of 438 prisoners whose reports have so far been received, 59 tested positive for coronavirus. In Sialkot Jail, tests were performed on 36 prisoners and 19 employees. Out of them, 14 people tested positive for coronavirus. Moreover, nine prisoners tested positive for coronavirus in DG Khan Jail, while seven prisoners were diagnosed with COVID-19 in Gujranwala Jail. According to the jail officers, 1,500 prisoners have been shifted to Hafizabad and Lodhran jails from Camp Jail. On March 21, the first coronavirus case was confirmed in Camp Jail. The affected prisoner had come from Italy and was arrested in a narcotics case.
