KARACHI (92 News) – Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah on Sunday said that 93 new cases of coronavirus surfaced in the province during the past 24 hours. In a statement, the Sindh chief minister said that 569 new tests were conducted today and 93 of them turned to be positive. “So far, 13,309 tests have been conducted for the COVID-19 and 1411 of them turned to be positive,” he added. The chief minister said that 389 of the diagnosed patients recovered and discharged from the hospitals. CM Murad said that 30 people have died from novel coronavirus after two new deaths across the province so far. As many as 11 union councils were sealed in East Karachi to control the spread of coronavirus on Saturday. Earlier on Saturday, the Sindh government extended the lockdown for a week to contain the spread of coronavirus. In a video message, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed concern over the COVID-19 situation in the province. He said that 104 new cases and six deaths have been reported in the province during the last 24 hours, which is a matter of concern. “The emergence of new coronavirus cases is 20 percent of the total tests conducted during the last 24 hours, which is the highest average across the world,” he said. The Sindh chief minister said that 531 tests were conducted and of them 104 people tested positive. “The reason of the worsening situation is that the lockdown is not being implemented. The lockdown in Malir was weak. The number of coronavirus patients is increasing in Hyderabad,” he added. He said that 371 people have returned to their homes after the recovery and 13 more are returning to their homes today. The union councils have been sealed on the orders of East Karachi deputy commissioner. A heavy contingent of the Rangers and police sealed different areas. The sealed UCs include UC 6 Gillani Railway, UC 7 Dalmiya, UC 8 Jamal Colony, UC 9 Gulshan II, UC 10 Pehalwan Goth, UC 12 Gulzar, UC 13 Safoora, UC 2 Manzoor Colony, UC 9 Jacob Line and UC 10 Jamshed Quarters. No one will be allowed to enter or leave the sealed union councils.
