9th Muharram processions taken out across country amid tight security

LAHORE (92 News) – The 9th of Muharram processions were taken out across the country to pay homage to the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), and his companions in Karbala.

Strict security arrangements have been made in this regard.

In Lahore, the main procession of the image of Zul-Jinnah was taken out from Pando Street, Islampura and proceeded on the fixed routes. A large number of mourners and pilgrims participated in the procession. The participants of the procession offered the prayers at Siraj Building Chowk. The procession ended at Pando Street.

In Peshawar, the main procession started from Imam Bargah Hussainiya Hall Sadar. All entrances leading to the procession route were closed. Strict security arrangements were made. 

The main procession in Karachi was taken out from Exhibition Chowrangi. An ancient procession was held in Rohri in Sukkur in memory of the martyrs of Karbala. The early morning procession reached Mandu Khabar. A large number of mourners were present.

In Multan, the main mourning procession of the 9th Muharram was taken place from Imam Bargah Mumtazabad. In Faisalabad, 93 processions and 38 Majlis were held on 9 Muharram.

57 processions of 9th Muharram were taken out in Sialkot. Majlis were also organized at 119 places. More than 2,000police personnel performed security duties.

Mobile phone service was partially closed in more than 70 districts, including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Multan. Pillion-riding was banned.
