COAS Qamar Bajwa, US envoy Zalmay Khalilzad discuss Afghan peace process

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Zalmay Khalilzad, US Special Representative for Afghan Reconciliation, called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa in continuation of ongoing discussions and efforts for success of peace process in Afghanistan. According to a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday, both shared the steps taken in this regards and agreed to continue working towards mutually agreed goals. Zalmay Khalilzad appreciated Pakistan’s wholehearted support to the process and expressed hope that others would follow in the same vein. The COAS said that Pakistan will play its role to enhance all efforts for peace towards fullest potential. Saudi Media Minister, Adviser to Defence Minister call on COAS On July 31, Turki Bin Abdullah Al Shabanah, Minister of Media Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and Major General Talal Abdullah Alotaibi, Military Advisor to Minister of Defence KSA, called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ. According to a press release issued by the ISPR, regional security situation and matters of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting. The COAS said that both countries have history of defence cooperation which Pakistan greatly values. “Pakistan Army stands with Saudi armed forces in all fields.” COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa also expressed condolences on the death of HH Prince Bandar Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud. Nawaf Saeed al Maliky, KSA Ambassador to Pakistan, was also present during the meeting. COAS, Uzbekistan’s Abdusalom Azizov discuss mutual cooperation On July 30, Chairman Security Services of Uzbekistan Abdusalom Azizov called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor, they discussed defence and security cooperation between the two countries. They also discussed overall regional situation. They agreed to enhance military level contacts and trainings besides undertaking joint steps for eradication of terrorism. General Azizov appreciated role and sacrifice of Pakistan Army for achieving peace in the region.
