Death toll rises to ten as cold storage boiler explodes in New Karachi

KARACHI (92 News) – Ten people were killed and 27 others injured when a boiler at a cold storage exploded near Saba Cinema in New Karachi on Tuesday.

The injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. It is being feared that still several people are buried under the debris.

Salma Kausar, a senior doctor, said that the injured including, Akbar, Sakhawat, Rajesh, Amna Bibi, Sajid and Rasheed had been shifted to hospital.

She said that the condition of three injured people is stated to be critical.

The police said that buildings, factories and vehicles had been damaged around the cold storage. The Rangers personnel are also participating in the rescue activities.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has demanded a report of the incident. The Karachi administrator visited Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and inquired after the health of the injured.
