LHC extends Hamza Shehbaz’s interim bail till May 8

LAHORE (92 News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) extended the interim bail of Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz in three cases till May 8. During the hearing, Hamza Shehbaz’s lawyer argued that the permission of magistrate compulsory if anyone has to be arrest in money laundering case. He also said that they were not informed about the complaints and reasons to arrest, adding that any content which is being used against any accused could not be concealed from him. The NAB prosecutor told the court they had received a report of financial monitoring unit about suspected transaction, adding that they cannot reveal the report of financial monitoring unit. The court asked from the NAB prosecutor, is this report’s sections will become the part of case. To reply, the prosecutor apprised that this would be depending on the investigation. The court extended the interim bail of Hamza Shehbaz till may 8. Earlier, the NAB prosecutor told the court they had asked several questions from Hamza, but he said he would reply to answers in court. The LHC granted Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz interim bail in the Ramazan Sugar Mills and Saaf Pani cases. Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed also ordered him to furnish two surety bonds worth Rs 10 million each. During the hearing, the judge expressed anger over presence of irrelevant lawyers in court and remarked that he had warned that court etiquettes should be followed. “Political workers take selfies in court and how will look into the matter. Hamza Shehbaz assured the court that he would be cautious in future. His counsel stated that his client fears arrest despite the Ramazan Sugar Mills reference had been filed. “The NAB also wants to arrest Hamza Shehbaz unjustifiable in the Saaf Panic case,” he said. He requested the court to grant Hamza Shehbaz bail in both cases. Stringent security arrangements had been made on the arrival of Hamza Shahbaz.
