PM Imran Khan in Karachi to announce over 50 mega projects

KARACHI (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan and members of the federal cabinet reached Karachi on Saturday. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Governor Imran Ismail welcomed the prime minister at the airport. The prime minister also took an aerial view of the city by helicopter. Federal Minister for Information Shibli Faraz and MNA Amir Kayani are also accompanying him. During the tour, over 50 projects, including mass transit system and circular road, costing Rs 800 billion will be announced for Karachi city. The prime minister will hold meetings with all stakeholders. The other projects likely to be announced include modern solid waste system, a network of roads and draining of rainwater. Sources disclosed that an amount of Rs 447 billion has been earmarked for mass transit project, Rs 300 billion for Karachi Circular Railway, Rs 4.7 billion for two drainage projects and Rs 110 billion for five projects of clean drinking water. They added that Rs 162 billion would be allocated for eight projects of sewerage, Rs 14.8 billion for four projects of solid waste and Rs 62 billion for four projects of roads. Prime Minister Imran Khan is also likely to meet Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. He will also meetings with Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, assembly members, leaders of allied parties, traders and the NDMA officials.
