Abdul Razzaq announces retirement from int'l cricket

LAHORE (92 News) – Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has on Friday announced to retire from the international cricket.

Abdul Razzaq made ODI debut in 1996 against Zimbabwe and soon became a regular in the limited overs version of the game. However, he had to wait for his opportunities in Test cricket, which finally arrived 3 years later against Australia in 1999.

The all-rounder admitted that he only blames himself for not playing for Pakistan as he had given up after he was “tired of all the internal politics”. The veteran admitted that if he didn’t give up, he could have earned his place back in the side.

Razzaq said that the announcement is merely a formality, adding that the main thing is coming to terms with the reality that your time in international cricket has ended.

The 37-year old all-rounder hoped that like Misbahul Haq and Younis Khan, he would also be provided an opportunity to play his farewell match.
