Abid Boxer released after brief detention in Nawa Kot CIA centre

LAHORE (92 News) – Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Nawan Kot on Sunday arrested notorious encounter specialist Abid Boxer in Lahore and released after brief detention. As per details garnered, a murder case was registered at Millat Park police station against Abid Boxer. He and claimant of the case were summoned at Nawan Kot CIA center for investigation. Both the parties had exchange hot words and it changed into quarrel. The police arrested seven people including Abid Boxer. He was confined in a lockup and later released following detention of few hours. Earlier, an additional sessions judge granted bail to former inspector Abid Boxer in two cases of police encounter on Friday. The bail has been granted until September 4. His interim bail was dismissed for not appearing in court since he was granted bail. Abid Hussain alias Abid Boxer had joined the Police Department in 1988 as an assistant sub-inspector. He was later promoted to the rank of inspector. He fled Pakistan in 2008 after the police lodged cases against him under murder, attempted murder, fraud and forgery charges. The murder case that forced Abid Boxer to flee Pakistan was lodged against him at Qila Gujjar Singh police station after the death of a retired army brigadier, Naseem Ashraf. Ashraf’s wife had lodged the case accusing the former inspector of killing her husband.
