Accountability court adjourns Ramzan Sugar Mills, Ashiana-e-Iqbal cases till May 25

LAHORE (92 News) – An accountability court on Saturday adjourned the hearing of the Ramzan Sugar Mills and Ashiana-e-Iqbal cases till May 25. Accountability Court judge Jawad ul Hassan heard the case. During proceedings, counsels of both PML-N leaders presented requests to excuse them from appearing in court. Shahbaz’s counsel told the court that his client is out of the country for medical treatment and cannot appear before the court so he should be exempted from making an appearance. On the other hand, Hamza’s counsel also submitted an exemption plea on behalf of his client and told the court that he is feeling unwell and cannot appear before the court. The court in its remarks questioned the Shehbaz’s counsel that is he sure about the return of his client. To which, Shehbaz’s counsel told the court that his medical reports are being presented regularly. The counsel also submitted Shehbaz Sharif’s medical reports and said that though Shehbaz Sharif said he would return to Pakistan in two weeks, his doctors had advised him to stay on for further treatment. The counsel added that Hamza Shehbaz didn’t appear in court because he was ill while his father is still in London. The NAB had filed a reference against the two alleging that the former chief minister Shehbaz Sharif misused his authority by using public funds for the construction of a bridge to facilitate the Ramzan mills, owned by his sons. The court reserved its verdict on the exemption requests from personal appearance of Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz. The court adjourned the hearing till May 25.
