Accountability court issues Ishaq Dar’s arrest warrants

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The accountability court (AC) has on Wednesday issued arrest warrants of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar after he failed to appear in court. The AC judge Mohammad Bashir resumed hearing of the reference against the finance minister. During the proceedings, the court was told that Ishaq Dar could not appear as he is presently in London, to which the counsel of NAB prayed the court to issue arrest warrants of the minister. The court while issuing the bailable arrest warrants of Ishaq Dar ordered for submission of the bail bond of Rs1 million. The court later adjourned the hearing until September 25. The accountability court had ordered the finance minister to appear before the court today (Wednesday) but he failed to appear before the court. The National Accountability Bureau had filed a reference against Ishaq Dar for having assets beyond his sources of income. A 91 percent increase was observed in his assets in a short period of time. The accused was summoned to joint investigation but he did not appear citing a review petition against the Panamagate verdict in the Supreme Court, the reference stated. Dar and his family possess assets worth Rs 839 billion, the reference said.
