Accountability court reopens assets reference against Asif Ali Zardari

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Accountability Court Judge Raja Ikhlaq Hussain reopened the assets reference against former president Asif Ali Zardari on Friday. The NAB prosecutor contended that Asif Ali Zardari was not now the President and his immunity had ended. He requested that the court to reopen the assets reference. The court ordered former president Asif Ali Zardari to appear before it on April 27. In 2001, the assets reference was filed against Zardari during the tenure of Pervez Musharraf. On January 28, 2010, the court had remarked that Asif Zardari had presidential immunity and it could not summon him. The reference was restored after the Supreme Court declared the NRO illegal.
