Accountability court again summons Sharif, family

Accountability court again summons Sharif, family
September 19, 2017
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The accountability court (AC) has on Tuesday again issued summons for former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his sons Hussain and Hassan and his daughter Maryam Nawaz for September 26 in three references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over alleged corruption by the ruling family. The AC court judge Muhammad Bashir resumed hearing of the references against the Sharif family. The court directed Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Asif Kirmani, who was present in the court, to inform the Sharif family about the summons. Earlier, the accountability court had summoned Nawaz Sharif, Hussain Nawaz, Hassan Nawaz and Maryam Nawaz to appear before the court in reference pertaining to the Sharif family’s company, Flagship Investment Limited, in the UK. The accountability body had filed three references against the Sharifs as well as Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in light of the July 28 judgement of the Supreme Court in the Panama Papers case. The anti-graft body said the accused had been given ample time to explain and provide evidence regarding the accumulation of these assets but “they did not join the investigations before the NAB on the pretext of a review petition already filed before the Supreme Court of Pakistan against the July 28 verdict”.
