Acting LHC CJ rescues himself from hearing plea

LAHORE (92 News) – Acting Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Yawar Ali has on Monday rescued himself from hearing of contempt of court petition for not making Model Town tragedy report public despite the court orders. On Monday, when the pleas came up for hearing before the bench, acting Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Yawar Ali declined to hear the petitions for personal reasons. Subsequently, the bench has been dissolved and another bench would be constituted. The LHC had adjourned the hearing of contempt of court petition for not making Model Town tragedy report public despite the court order until tomorrow. The contempt of court petition was filed by Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) against Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, Punjab Chief Secretary and provincial Home Secretary. On the other hand, the LHC issued notice to interior ministry to respond to a petition seeking to place the names of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and former Inspector General Mushtaq Sukhera on the Exit Control List. Ishtiaq Chaudhry, the counsel of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) filed the petition and prayed the court to put the names the Punjab CM, law minister and former IGP on the ECL.
