ISLAMABAD (92 News) – State Minister for Narcotics Control Shehryar Afridi and former law minister Rana Sanaullah both has brought Holy Quran in favor of their stance during the debate in National Assembly (NA). Today’s NA session turned into war of words between the minister and opposition leader during the debate and both the sides wanted to prove their stance with a Holy Quran in their hand but PTI’s Syed Fakhar Imam, who presided over today’s session, stopped them. Fakhar Imam admitted that since Sanaullah had been allowed to speak with a Holy Quran in his hand, Afridi should be allowed to do the same, but said that such a tradition should not be set in the parliament. The speaker told Afridi to speak on oath, without holding the Holy Quran but the latter refused. Afridi challenges Sanaullah to face trial ‘like a man’ Addressing NA session today in his enthusiastic address, the state minister for narcotics control has challenged PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah to face trial in the narcotics recovery case against him ‘like a man’ and not employ delaying tactics. Afridi asked Sanaullah to learn from the teachings of the Holy Quran instead of carrying it everywhere. “If you are speaking truth then you must face the trial and do not use the delaying tactics,” he said, asking Sanaullah to pledge on the floor of the house that he would attend the trial proceedings on the 18th of this month. “I will present the evidence and witnesses against him in court so that facts could be separated from fiction,” he said. He vowed to take the case against Sanaullah to its logical conclusion, adding that the government would not let the PML-N leader escape from the case.
Model Town victims waiting for Rana Sanaullah
The minister said that victims of Model Town tragedy are also waiting for Rana Sanaullah. The government and the ministry will not let him run away and will prove that the case against him is based on facts. He said that a decision should be taken in this House today and the reality should be revealed to the people.
Rana Sanaullah challenges Sheharyar Afridi to testify on Holy Quran
Rana Sanaullah challenged Minister of State for Narcotics Control Sheharyar Afridi to testify on Quran to prove allegations. Acting Speaker of the National Assembly Syed Fakhar Imam prevented the situation from getting tense and said that there should be no further discussion and decision will not be made on Quran as this matter is in the court. “May God curse me if I have ever been in contact with a heroin dealer or tried to influence on behalf of anyone," said the PML-N leader. He went on to say that the ANF officials, who arrested him last year, had no idea about the case being prepared against him. Sharing the ordeal of his arrest, Sanaullah said when he asked ANF officials the reason of his arrest, the reply was that “they have received orders from the seniors”.
Sharyar Afridi was given the floor once more when the NA sitting resumed after a short break, “May God curse us if I and Prime Minister Imran Khan have run any conspiracy against Rana Sanaullah,” he added.
The Safron minister refused to speak without a copy of the Holy Quran in his hand. The request was denied by PTI’s Syed Fakhar Imam. The speaker told Afridi to speak on oath, without holding the Holy Quran but the latter refused. Imam Fakhar adjourned the session until Wednesday morning after a ruckus in the parliament.
