ISLAMABAD (92 News) – After throwing the petrol bomb, the government is likely to increase the power rate by Rs 2.07 per unit.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CCPA) has sent a summary to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for increasing the tariffs under the head of the fuel adjustment.

After the approval of the summary, the consumers will be burdened with an additional amount of Rs 25 billion. The NEPRA will conduct a hearing on the summary on September 30.

According to the CCPA, the government had produced the all-time costly electricity last month – diesel at Rs 22.62 and furnace oil at Rs 18.24.

On the other hand, the Petroleum Division has recommended to waive off the levy on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). As a result, the LPG price is likely to be decreased by Rs 19 per kilogram.

After waiving off General Sales Tax (GST) by 10 percent, the price of a gas cylinder will be decreased by Rs 224. After decreasing the petroleum levy and GST, the revenue will be decreased by Rs 17 billion.
