ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Air Force Day is being observed with national zeal on Monday (September 7) to commemorate the dexterity and valour of the defenders of air space of the country against Indian aggression in September 1965 war. In the 1965 war, the valiant Pakistani pilots despite limited resources not only annihilated Indian air aggression but also inflicted humiliating defeat on India through unprecedented skill in the warfare and insurmountable courage. The PAF ace Muhammad Mahmood Alam, commonly known as MM Alam, shot down five Indian Air Force Hawker Hunter Mk 56 fighters in less than a minute. Pakistan Air Force will pay homage to the martyrs of PAF in defending the country during the Indo-Pak War in 1965. A notable event of the war was that Pakistan Air Force flying ace Muhammad Mahmood Alam shot down five planes of Indian Air Force in less than a minute. The floral wreath laid on the grave of Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) and the contingent paid homage to the young pilot who had sacrificed his life in the defence of motherland, showing exemplary courage and determination. However, Pakistan Air Force martyrs are the heroes of the nation and the martyrdom of Rashid Minhas is a matter of pride for Pakistan.
